在这里take意为做某事花费了多少时间,同样有时用spend,cost也表示花费时间,它们的区别是:
take和cost表示人们为不愿意做或不得不做的事而"花费"时间,而spend暗含所做的事"花去"时间是应该的,愿意怕
It took me an hour to find you. (无奈情绪)
She spends 10 hours playing the piano. (喜欢弹琴,一练就是10小时)
如果说It took her ten hours to play the piano则意为:由于难,内容多,不得不用上10个小时
reservation n. 保留(意见)

famous adj. 有名的,著名的
这个词相对意义的词为unknown不知名的
infamous 意为:声名狼藉的,臭名昭著的

2、有个坏消息,你要婉转地告诉他。你说,恐怕你给他带来一个坏消息:

3、你看了医生,医生认为你病得不轻。他说,恐怕得卧床一周:

4、你与同事之间产生了分歧。有一天你主动和解,你说,恐怕有某种误会:

I'm afraid 后面跟从句,或做插入语,使语气更加婉转;或回答别人问题时说I'm afraid not 或I'm afraid so
例如:Most of us are afraid to eat snake.多数人不敢吃蛇(意味相当于因害怕而不敢,不乐意做)John is afraid of losing his job. John总是提心吊胆怕丢了饭碗(担心或忧虑某事发生)

1、医生来看望他。临走时嘱咐说,5点钟再吃一次药:

     有时译法比校活,有时不宜译出
有谚语说:It takes two to quarrel 相当于汉语的:孤掌难鸣
美国人说:I won't be taken for a ride. 的意思是:我可不上当
Taken by itself 就本身来说
You 're kidding 美语中用于关系比较亲近的朋友间,当你对所说的话不赞同,不认可时说,相当于汉语的:我才不相信!别开玩笑了。

1、跟友人分手。他说,希望再见到你。你说,你也一样;
I'm looking forward it too.
2、在与商务伙伴的首次接洽中,你对他们说,你们盼望能与他们建立合作关系:
